Our book, Mahogany Ridge was Hollis' first work of fiction.
“So who do you think will want to read this book?” Play Doe asked his friend Soccer Tease after reading the final draft of Mahogany Ridge.
“It was written for people who enjoy contemplating the lives of people they see in various settings,” Soccer responded, “You know those who try to imagine that they are capable of envisioning the lives of others.”
“Isn’t that about everyone?” Play asked, being thoughtful.
“In my dreams.” Soccer imagined for a moment the royalties if that was the case. “For as long as I can remember, I would see someone and immediately try to make up the story of his or her life. About thirty years ago I started making up names that suited people better than the names their parents gave them.”
“At least you thought the names were better.” Play pointed out the distinct difference.
“For the book, I merged the two ideas,” Soccer conceded.
“Will readers agree with your conclusions?” Play was certain they would not.
“Probably not, my editor even disagreed.”
“So is there anyone in the book who is real?”
“No they are all made up; just like you and me.”
